For every olympic event USA Today covers news in their sports section. They develop their own logo to showcase content on their website, print ads and other collateral.
For the 2018 Olympics I was commissioned as a contractor, to develop conceptual logo-marks for the games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The first phase of the project involved research and the creation of mood boards. After I collected information, I brainstormed some visual directions. Some key elements I highlighted in my visual exploration included culture, topography and athletic movement.
By the end of my contract, the final design had not be selected because the project was de-prioritized. Regardless, I decided to showcase a few of my favorite ideas.
